Critical Thinking Introduction
Making decisions is an everyday task for everyone. Making good decisions is an art and science.
Think of a decision as a multi-dimensional picture. Each dimension presents a factor which will influence the decision.

What are the factors that must be taken into consideration?
The decision must be rational and based on facts. The decision must support your values with the proper means towards the goals.

Rationality:
In simple words rational decisions are those that make sense.
Rational decisions come from an analysis of facts, values, and priorities.

Facts:
The facts people are looking for take time to discover. People do research and ask questions.
Asking questions, listening to other opinions an thinking of their meanings are very important skills.

Values and priorities:
Values differ from one person to another, because it’s all about internal perception and how that person came about to reaching their goal. When coming up with goals it is important to make priorities.

Means and Ends:
When talking about means and ends it is about steps can be taken (means) to complete the task and achieve specific goals (ends).

Emotions in decision-making:
We are all humans and have feelings and emotions that change throughout time. It is crucial to be able to control these emotions and feelings. Before getting angry or showing that we are upset it is a good idea to notice: hey it looks like we are getting emotional. Let us take control!

A complete suppression of emotions in decision-making might not be the best venue. Emotions can be disturbing, but also can be a helpful factor. Best decision makers try to include anticipation of emotions and emotional impact, but not to allow themselves to be blind by emotions.
